Hi,
It’s been a while since we last talked and I wanted to start by saying thanks for being patient. When I launched this newsletter I knew I wanted it to be a vehicle of fiction and storytelling.
Note the word ‘wanted’ as that is the important part.
Wanting something is an optional thing. Wanting is a ‘nice to have’ but ‘I don’t need.’ Need is the word that should have been the driving force in making this newsletter fly because when you need something you cannot live without it, and that’s what writing is to me. It’s a part of me that I cannot live without and so I am making that a thing in my life again.
I am making a serialized series for this newsletter that will be debuting soon, but in the meantime, I will be making some small stories for this space. These smaller pieces will appear in the free version of this newsletter along with a blog as it was supposed to before. The main serialized stories, along with the behind-the-scenes stuff, are going to be placed in the subscription area of the Typewriter Mechanic.
Am I switching to a subscription system today? No, I will once the series is live. For now, you can see the first colorized images of my picture book “The Many Deliveries of Pudgy Penguin.”
If you remember from the previous newsletter, I was talking about making this book a reality, and I finally got in front of my drawing tablet regularly enough to make it happen. I’m holding a toddler now who is taking apart my desk, so I will be signing off (Did I mention that I’ve had to start waking up at 5 AM to get these pages drawn?).
Thanks for reading,
Nick Mazmanian
